Pacifiers should never be an alternative for breastfeeding babies and
should be introduced to babies which are used to breastfeeding as it might
create oral problems for the baby and teeth misalignment during young age.
Pacifiers are to be introduced to newborn babies under the following
circumstances and rather keep it as a last option for convincing crying babies.
Try rocking, singing and cuddling the baby and if nothing works, go for a
pacifier.
The pacifier can be introduced to the baby after breastfeeding up to the
age of 3 years and is of no harm. Never use a pacifier to skip breastfeeding
and never force to the baby with the pacifier. If the baby does not like it,
just leave it and try other options of calming and putting the baby down to
sleep. The pacifier is placed in the mouth of the baby and always keeps an eye
on the pacifier. Some might get stuck or get strangled around the baby neck.
Never tie the pacifier around the baby's neck. It is always advisable to pin in
on the baby's clothes with the help of a pacifier pin
Introduce the pacifier between feedings and not when the baby is hungry.
The pacifier is used for the baby to put to sleep. It helps the baby to sleep
easily and never disturbs the baby’s sleep or affects its sleep cycle
The pacifier is introduced during travel which helps the baby to release
pressure by sucking on the pacifiers. The babies intentionally yawn to release
the pressure
The pacifiers can be introduced when the baby is bored and cries. Check
if the baby is hungry; if not then insert the pacifier into the baby’s mouth to
help control the tears
Pacifiers are inserted after breastfeeding and are sliding smoothly into
the baby's mouth without forcing them. Forcing them might not be liked by the
babies and hence never force pacifiers into their mouth
Before placing the pacifier into the baby's mouth, sterilize it properly
as it can lead to dental problems. Make sure the pacifier is not damaged or
worn away and never place the pacifier into the baby's mouth during the
medication as it can cause damage to it
The pacifiers
are disposable in nature and should be replaced once in two months for the
baby’s safety and healthy lifestyle
Never sugarcoat the pacifier for the baby as it can cause dental illness
and can also lead to poisoning by feeding honey to the baby
Pacifiers, when inserted into the baby, should be monitored regularly as
the baby might chew or bite and tear the surface. Pacifiers are replaced
regularly for this reason
Pacifiers come to the rescue
for breastfeeding mothers who can rely on them entirely to soothe their baby.
